Volkswagen Group: Company Car Handover

Background:
Volkswagen Group (UK) Limited offer staff a generous company car scheme which also allows family members to benefit from it. For a number of years, the scheme was managed by their logistics supplier out of a warehouse car park and small office facility in Milton Keynes which fell short of the showroom experience offered to private customers.

Requirement:
In order to address the gap and to offer staff and their families a better customer experience, CMI was approached by Volkswagen Group’s Facilities Management (FM) Team to help develop ideas and deliver a showroom experience at the site.

Approach:
CMI worked with the FM team and supplier to identify the facilities and processes that enabled a showroom experience to be delivered. Utilising unused space in the warehouse, CMI was able to develop the brief and an outline design which could be delivered within the available budget.

On approval, CMI were retained to project manage the development of the facility. This initially involved appointing and working with, a multidisciplinary team of architects and engineering consultants to work up a detailed design to meet relevant planning requirements and building regulations. Once necessary approvals were obtained, CMI procured the relevant specialist contractors to construct the facility.

Outcomes:
The facility was delivered on time and to budget and still provides Volkswagen Groups staff and family members with a ‘showroom’ experience when collecting their cars.
